■Comments from Mr. Yoshiyuki Aikawa
When I heard the news that a drone-type flying bike was being developed in Japan and was scheduled to go on sale publicly, I realized that the future, rather than cars, will become an era of flying and sharing the sky with others.
I have always loved vehicles like cars and bikes, and I fly airplanes, helicopters, drones, etc., and I like to chase new driving experiences, so when I saw the XTURISMO featured on TV, I instantly made an inquiry. The design also looks very stylish.
I was told that it cannot be used on public roads yet, so I would like to practice flying it on private property first, even over the ocean in Shonan.
Aside from personal enjoyment, there is also an aspect of utility. In the aftermath of the 3/11 earthquake, there were many places that were inaccessible by car, which made it difficult to deliver emergency and medical supplies, so I feel that such a vehicle could be used in the medical field in the future as well.
Additionally, I’ve read that the annual cost of road repair work is 1.2 trillion yen, so this could be a way to reduce that expense.
Even if only minor damages can be avoided, the budget can be reduced and the number of places where roads do not need to be built can increase, so I felt that this could be a very promising project in which I can also participate.
